The museum is located on the site of North America's first commercial oil well.
James Miller Williams dug the well in 1858.
The Grounds
Visitors from around the world have viewed the indoor and outdoor exhibits.
Outside, on the spacious landscaped grounds, are the reconstructed William's Well, the first to produce oil commercially and other working wells and exhibits depicting the first methods used to extract "black gold" from the earth.
The rustic setting is ideal for portraying the early development of one of the world's most important industries.
